Installing Your New Joomla Template

First you need to have downloaded your new Joomla Template in a zip file. After downloading then you can install it through Joomla, via the admin control panel.

Once logged into the admin back end, navigate through the top horizontal menu to the site menu. Scroll down to Template manager, follow the arrow to click on Site Templates.

At the Template Manager screen, click on the New button on your top left. Now you will find yourself on the install new template page. Hit the browse button and locate where you have the template zip file stored.

Click on your chosen Joomla template .zip file to select it, then press the upload file and install button.

You may see some text information / copyrights etc about the template, after reading just click on the continue button at the bottom to go back the template manager page and finish the install.

Set the Default Template

Last step is to make your newly uploaded and installed Joomla template the default template for the site.

Click on the round radio button / check box next to the name of your template and then click on the default button up the top right side of the page to make it active..

Reload your site to verify that your new Joomla template has been successfully installed.
