Page 1 of 4 Steps for installation of your new Joomla Template
One of the most popular and appealling features of the Joomla content management system must surely be it's great templating system, which allows you to change the complete look of your site with just a few clicks.
There are a huge number of free and commercial Joomla templates available, which makes choosing a new look for your site so much easier , [ or harder depending on how you look at it, with so many choices available ].You'll even be able to find some high quality Joomla templates here at xsitech
When you first download a Joomla template it should be in a .zip or tar.gz file. You should make sure that you have the correct template version for your site, either 1.0 or 1.5. You cannot install a Joomla 1.5 template into Joomla 1.0 and vice versa.
The easiest way to identify the difference between a Joomla 1.5 template and a 1.0 template, if it's not clearly labelled , is to check the templateDetails.xml file.
At the very top of the templateDetails xml file is a line which will specify the version number.
Joomla 1.5 Templates: "install version=1.5 type=template"
Joomla 1.0 Templates: "mosinstall type=template version 1.0.x"
Now we'll move on to installing your template
