Alternative way of installing a new template

Another way to add a new template is to bypass the template installation altogether using the unzipped contents of your template and upload the Joomla template folder directly to the Joomla template directory on your server via FTP.

This will allow you to bypass the standard installation procedure and will also bypass any errors you may get with installing a template.

You should really only install templates this way if you are already 100% sure there are no problems wih the template package. If you are moving existing templates from server to server then this is a quick method.

I find that installing a new template .zip file through the Template Manager helps you to verify that the template is free from any "errors" such as missing or mismatched/wrongly named files.
