To install a Joomla 1.5 Template - How_to_install_templates

To install a Joomla 1.0 template into your site, first log into the Joomla administration control panel which in usually located by accessing the administrator link from your site - www.mysite.com/administrator/

Once logged in to the backend, there are two methods you can use for installing your template..

Method 1: Using the Installers link on the top menu. Click Templates -> Site for a standard template , or Templates -> Admin for an admin backend template.

Method 2: Navigate down through the SITE menu link in the top horizontal menu to the Template Manager eg:

"site link -> template manager -> site templates"

On the Template Manager page you will see a list of installed templates. In Joomla 1.0 there are two default templates, Madeyourweb and the default Rhuk Solarflare.

To install your new template, click on the new button on the 2nd row of links down from the top, on your right side of the screen

Next click on the browse button to locate the template .zip file you previously downloaded to your computer.

Click on open and Joomla will upload this to the template directory on your site.

You may see some kind of message or comment from the template author with a successful install, if it all goes well, and you'll see a link to continue back to the Template Manager page.

Next you'll need to Change the default Joomla template to make your newly installed template active.
