One thing I am looking forward to is sharing with you some of my favourite site designs that I find around the net and the expert artists who make them each week, to help showcase some of the lesser known but highly talented artists on the net. I'm working on a complete guide to show you how to create a new joomla site from scratch, all the way up to getting the site online. We'll be starting with the the planning/ideas phase to build a solid structure before you even start. As the saying goes when you fail to plan, you plan to fail.. ;) Then we'll be covering the design stages, creating a rough draft of the layout on paper to take into photoshop, where I'll show you some of my favourite styles and techniques and organising the slices during the design process in a way that they will be able to be coded into a css based layout a lot quicker. Once the design has been completed we'll go through how to build a valid XHTML / CSS based tableless layout, then onto the process of converting it into a joomla template. We'll go through installing joomla onto a server and applying your new custom template and then configuring the site correctly before it all goes live. There are a quite a lot of good Joomla extensions which will help make your site easier to manage, and add features to enhance the appeal of your site to your visitors. So naturally we'll take a look at some of my favourite Joomla extensions I've come across over the years as well. So hang around and keep an eye out for more updates as we get this site started. |
